Our Mission Statement
Our mission statement at Silver Lake United Methodist Church encompasses the three “E”‘s of Embrace, Engage, and Extend.
We pledge to Embrace God and our neighbor. Who is our neighbor? Jesus made it pretty clear In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus answers the question of who is my neighbor by illustrating that anyone in need is your neighbor, regardless of their background or relationship to you.
We pledge to Engage with others to connect and grow. The statement “we are meant to live in fellowship with one another” reflects a core Christian belief that emphasizes the importance of community and mutual support among believers. This concept, often referred to as koinonia, highlights the shared life, experiences, and spiritual bond that Christians have with each other and with God.
We then pledge to Extend God’s Love by serving others. Showing God’s love through service to others is a core principle found in many faiths. It involves actions of kindness, compassion, and generosity, demonstrating God’s Love in tangible ways. This can include acts of service like helping with chores, providing food, or offering support, as well as sharing God’s word and praying for others.
For at Silver Lake United Methodist Church, we truly believe,
“As disciples of Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to make a difference!”
